Use the Force. If you do, attack with a unit. It gets +2/+0 for this attack and deals its combat damage before the defender. (If the defender is defeated, it deals no combat damage.)
Rules
"Combat damage" is only the damage dealt during the "deal combat damage" step of an attack. If a unit deals combat damage first, and the defender is defeated by that damage, it does not deal combat damage back. If it survives and has Grit, it deals bonus damage from Grit when dealing combat damage back. If you play Trust Your Instincts and use the Force, you must attack with a unit, if able. Units must be ready in order to attack. (ERRATA) Templating update: “Defender” becomes “defending unit”.
