Rules
Ambush is an ability that triggers at the same time as “When Played” abilities. The unit does not have to be ready in order to attack. If the defending unit deals combat damage first, and The Stranger is defeated by that damage, he does not deal combat damage back. If he survives, he deals bonus damage from Grit when dealing combat damage back.
